Halloween fiber fun

Writer's picture: Rebecca (a yarn enthusiast)Rebecca (a yarn enthusiast)

Over the last few years, I've found a lot of joy in Halloween fiber arts! This year I not only found crochet patterns, like this Candy Corn stuffie by Okie Girl Bling 'n Things, but I went all out and made my costume and a little bag to carry as a themed purse.

I made the costume from a CAPE pattern (serious cape pattern, not a costume) but I made it in orange fleece, added black felt for the Jack-o-lantern face and made a "hat" to top it off.

I have said many times on this blog site, and in presentations/talks: engaging in the fiber arts should should bring us joy and be FUN! Much of that responsibility falls on us to make decisions that bring these delightful projects into our lives. These decisions include managing our "fiber time" so we don't end up causing ourselves STRESS.

Still, I find myself turning to crafts when life gets crazy. It's my preferred "tonic" to the hard times, and consistently works to put me into a better state of mind. The bonus? I end up with something to use or share at the end of the process. In addition, I haven't read any specific and scary health warnings for excess use of fabric or yarn, although I know that it can sometimes be risky to walk in the house with "more" yarn or fabric.

As we head fully into the end of the calendar year and the holiday season in general, I wish you happy crafting, fun with fabric and "yarntastic" projects that fill your heart and make you smile!
