I finally finished my red, white, and blue cotton bag for small shopping trips. I made it with Lily Sugar ‘n Cream yarn and using the Yarnspirations free pattern for their Mesh Bag.
It’s perfect for quick trips to the store (I take it to the drug store when I’m picking up vitamins, etc.)
I had previously finished my t-shirt yarn bag and have used it several times as a poolside bag (I’ve also gotten a number of compliments on it!).
I celebrated another trip around the sun recently and decided to purchase myself a Singer serger to mark the occasion. I was initially a little intimidated by it, but decided to take it for a test drive with an easy project, and you guessed it: it’s another tote!
I used both a straight sewing machine and a serger to make this canvas bag. I used a white denim fabric and did not line it, but serged the seam edges. It will be added to the bag of bags that goes in my car as we anticipate legislation soon that will outlaw the use of single-use plastic bags.

I find a lot of joy in fabric and yarn; sewing, knitting and crochet. I’ll close with a quote that is engraved on a birthday gift I received this past weekend.
“In the rhythm of the needles, there is music for the soul.”
Indeed!
