Knit & Crochet (every day in May!)

Writer's picture: Rebecca (a yarn enthusiast)Rebecca (a yarn enthusiast)

I am participating in the Local Yarn Shop May challenge of knitting and/or crocheting EVERY DAY in MAY! (love this concept, by the way - simple and fun).

To help keep myself on track, I plan to take photos of any stitching that I do, and post here - at least a couple times each week. To kick this off, I'll share my 2 initial sessions of knitting and crochet from May's auspicious beginning (rabbit, rabbit).

First, my crocheting project. This started out as a blanket for a grandbaby's birthday,... and while she'll still get it - an octopus and a star pillow took its place as gifts. It's such a SOFT item that it is a wonderful project for chilly nights when our Summer-clothing is just a tad bit lacking as the air cools. The yarn is Bernat Blanket yarn (perfect phasing) in Deep Orchid. Crochet hook is a Clover 9mm.

Later in the evening last night, I picked up a knitting project that I've shared on here at least once - my Purl Soho, color tipped, wool wrap. I am SO CLOSE to the end of this light gray and the beginning of the decreases to the ending point. Yarn for this project is made with Highland Wool Souffle (purchased at Kid Ewe Knot in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania) in burgundy, light grey and dark grey. I prefer to use straight needles; these are Takumi, size 11.

If you're NOT participating (but you did knit or crochet yesterday!), I encourage you to grab a log sheet, and get stitching! I know that you'll be glad you did.

Go grab some yarn and happy stitching each day in May!
