Monday the 13th

I’ve never understood the bad luck that surrounds FRIDAY the 13th, but I could definitely understand a Monday the 13th as a scary thing!

First of all, it’s back to work after a few days to ourselves. Secondly, we’re looking at even MORE days at work after that Monday experience, so to my way of looking at it, Monday the 13th should be MUCH scarier than any Friday the 13th.

Today is such a day and thankfully it’s so far, so good on the luck thing. I went back to work, and in the big scheme of things, am feeling fortunate to have that Monday morning dread to experience. A number of colleagues and friends are in between jobs right now or facing potential layoffs. I try to keep my perspective when I get grouchy about going back to work each Monday. Having a job with benefits and some stability is truly a blessing - even if it makes us grouchy on Monday mornings!

This week I plan to finish my Bourbon Street shawl and hopefully finish, or at least make significant headway in finishing, my red and gray wool wrap.

I’ll also likely take a couple quick detours to finish my latest water bottle holder, which only needs the strap to be complete. My biggest challenge with that will be picking out a button (last step). In addition, I have a pattern for an owl key chain which is calling my name and a knitted vest that I’d like to make. It’s lining up to be another yarn-filled week (yay!)

For me, crocheting or knitting every day has been an easy “task”. It’s more like therapy than a task so that likely helps, but we still have more than half of the month to go, so hopefully I can hang in there and keep logging crochet and/or knit days!!

I hope you’re finding the May challenge to be a fun activity and are enjoying the reminder to spend some creative time with yarn and hook or needles.

Have fun and keep on stitchin’ !!!
