I’ve been a bit obsessed with this pattern - especially when it’s made in a cotton yarn. For this (green) version, I started with a smaller base (30 sts), still using the H hook. I have a pink one also in progress, but in Big Twist yarn that I’m making with a G hook (pictured below).
As Summer looms large on the calendar, and since these make perfect take-along projects, I’ll be taking these on the road. I think I’ll also work on a variation on this pattern - just to keep things interesting.
For sure, a couple will be gifted, and I’ll definitely use them myself once I start biking again this season.
It’s wonderful how a quick, easy, repeatable project with low stakes (e.g. not complicated, and not a promised or intended gift with a deadline) can provide some of the best “yarn therapy” around!
Later this year, I’ll be facilitating a session at a Crochet/Knit/Quilting/Sewing festival where I’ll be highlighting the many benefits of fiber arts. I’ll share the research on these activities, as well as tips and tricks to help us navigate some of life’s more challenging periods with our favorites activities as our guide.

For now, I’ll enjoy the creative process with these water bottle slings/holders. I know that at some point, these will fall to the wayside, and other projects will be the focus of my yarn activities. For now, I’m enjoying the many possibilities available to me in cotton yarn.
