Out and about

Today was a busy day! I headed out late morning to take my finished virus shawl wrap to my Local Yarn Shop (LYS) to show the owner. I purchased the yarn from the shop and I participate in a rewards program whereby we get points for finishing items made with yarn purchased from the shop.

The points add up over the year and grant us a discount on the rewards program the following year. Last year I earned a 50% discount. This year I’m going to attempt to meet that again, and maybe (just maybe!) go a little further.

Later in the day, after some work around the house, I had planned to do some crocheting (some whimsical things: chickens, octopi, etc.) but in moving my red and gray wrap, I discovered a dropped stitch. I had to “frog” about 25 rows and pick up that darn dropped stitch.

Before anyone says something, I did attempt to ladder it up, but the Soufflé yarn is unfriendly in that regard, so after about 3 or 4 rows, I gave up and frogged.

All’s well that ends well, though. The wrap is fixed and I’m back to where I was last night, and I think I’ll take it with me in the morning. I work as a church organist and spend Sunday mornings on an organ bench. When I’m not making music, I almost always have a crochet or knitting project to work on.

Tomorrow I’ll continue my work on the Plymouth Yarn Highland Soufflé wool wrap by Purl Soho. It’s actually been chilly enough around here lately that I’d enjoy having it handy!

Happy Mother’s Day, and keep on stitching’ !!
