Some of my favorites sites

I have been thinking about the MANY sites that are out there for fiber artists that provide patterns, tips, tricks and more and wanted to highlight some of the ones I have found in my travels.

NOTE: this is NOT to suggest that I know it ALL about great sites - there are MANY out there that are wonderful, and that I may not have found. The ones I write about are simply the ones I have found and appreciate.

The FIRST one I want to start with is Fiber Flux Blog. They post a TON of crochet patterns and provide nice options for the beginner as well as for the more experienced crocheter. I have made their Winter Gems wrap, and am presently working on the French Buttercream Shawl, with my eye on a couple more (not enough time to make all these wonderful items!).

Their site has a "feel good" vibe and I have found their patterns to be accessible, straightforward, well-written (I'm an educator so I look at them through that lens as well as the fiber artist lens) and has a DEEP LIBRARY of patterns. Everyone can find something they like and want to crochet at the Fiber Flux Blog site!

Here's ANOTHER aspect of this blog site that I have discovered: it gives me the same good vibes as wandering up and down a giant yarn aisle in a craft store, but it doesn't have to end up costing me any money!

As I prepare my class for the upcoming Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival at the end of the month, I am highlighting the things we can do to take care of ourselves within the context of our fiber arts activities. One recommendation I make is to "shop" our stashes so we are not falling into a pattern of building our STASH instead of actually knitting and/or crocheting! Fiber Flux is a GREAT PLACE for stash-busting because there are so many patterns available that we can complete with yarn we already have - yarn from our stash. We can begin a new project without having to go to the store.

If you've never stopped by Fiber Flux, give them a visit today, and pick out a pattern to make from the yarn in your stash! I predict that you'll love them as much as I do.

Happy stitching!
