In a previous blog, I shared a pattern I wrote for a quick crochet project: a sunglasses pouch.
That post resulted in a special request for the same item in a yarn I had used to make a virus shawl. Luckily, I did have a little yarn left so I was able to make 2 out of that yarn, which got me digging into other leftover yarn to see what I could find.
The photo above shows another sunglasses pouch made with Juniper Moon Farms "Cirrus" cotton yarn - leftover from a project I finished recently (a knitted wrap, which my kitty seems to like!).

Since this yarn is very different from the Truboo I used for my original make, as well as the merino I used for the special request, I decided to mix it up with the pattern too!
Here's what you need to make this quick & fun item:
Yarn: I used leftover Juniper Moon Farms "Cirrus" cotton yarn
Crochet hook: (US) Size H
Scissors
A darning needle
Finishing:
shoelace or other cord in a color that coordinates with your yarn
you could also crochet a long chain and use this
Pattern
Chain (ch) 12
Row 1: Working in the "bump" at the back of the chain, make a Single Crochet (SC) in the 2nd chain from the hook, and all the way across (11 sts); ch 1 and turn.
here's a quick tutorial if you need some help with that
Row 2: SC in the 1st stitch. Double Crochet (DC) in next stitch. Continue across, alternating SC followed by a DC in the stitches that remain, ending the row with a DC. Ch 1 and turn
NOTE: this is sometimes referred to as the Lemon Peel stitch
Rows 3 - 18: Repeat Row 3 until your piece measure at least 6 1/2" (or the length you prefer for your sunglasses pouch).
Fasten off.
Make 2 (total)
Assembly:
Align the 2 sides and SC around, beginning at the top LEFT corner and going down one side, across the bottom and up the other side.
Place 2 SC in each corner to ease.
When you get back up to the TOP, SC around the opening. When finished, join with a Slip Stitch, and Ch 1.
SC in the next stitch, and continue around
Repeat this for 1 more round (total of 3 SC rounds) and join with a Slip Stitch to the top of the Ch 1. and fasten off.
Thread the cord between the SC/DC spaces in the last/top row of the flat panel, add the cord locks, knot ends,
Enjoy!
